On the zoom application, does the microphone sets to your internal microphone, if not, kindly check on its settings. If the microphone is working on other application, try to uninstall and re install your zoom application and see if that helps. Please let me know what will happen. In reply to hemangshukla's post on May 10, Frank Mulligan from NJ. The microphone stopped working on my daughter's reasonably new HP laptop in Zoom only. I checked the privacy settings and it's enabled. The microphone seems to work everywhere else except Zoom. Adjust Zoom's Advanced Audio Settings. Zoom offers advanced tools to improve audio playback, but they can sometimes have the opposite effect. If you have ongoing audio problems with your mic, open Zoom while not in a meeting and select the Settings gear , then choose the Audio tab and select Advanced to change these options.

Reinstall Zoom. If your microphone still isn't working, you can join a Zoom meeting by phone. If you dial into a conference, mute your computer so that it doesn't interfere with the audio. I am able to use the microphone with other programs and apps, so know it works. I have followed many troubleshooting suggestions online with no luck. Is there anything I can try? I can then be heard on a zoom call.

But this is very frustrating! I'm having the same problem. I've had HP run diagnostics on the laptop and all tests run successfully. Other apps that use microphone work correctly. HP says the problem is with Zoom. I'm running the latest release of Zoom 5. Can someone suggest a solution? I am having the same issue. I followed the suggestion below to turn off enhanced sound. When I went to my setting the default was already turned off. So then I deleted my zoom desktop client and reinstalled it. Tested the microphone and it is now working! I am using a brand new HP Envy laptop with Windows I found the problem with the microphone not working in Zoom is that Windows 11 has a setting that was turned on that enhances the audio.

Try to turn the switch off by going to the Windows settings, then click on system, go down to input, click on the microphone array under input setting, turn the enhanced audio switch off.
